Teen Spaces: The Step-by-Step Library Makeover ReviewNow in an updated second edition featuring a companion website with supplemental materials and success stories of YA librarians across the globe, Teen Spaces: The Step-by-Step Library Makeover is a straightforward guide to creating areas sure to appeal to teens in one's library. Black-and-white diagrams offer clear visual layouts and suggested designs; Teen Spaces walks one through designing and proposing a budget, working with architects and designers, visual merchandising ("the effort to make a library attractive and effective in its presentation of materials and services, as a means to increase use and circulation") and much more. Extended appendices, a list of resources, and a recommended vendor list round out this easy-to-use, no-nonsense guide highly recommended for YA librarians. "One important lesson that came out of this research is that, as librarians (and adults), we make the incorrect assumption that kids are web savvy and have the necessary skills to successfully use our websites. Many librarians teach information literacy - helping teens determine so-called bad information, while also assessing resources for high quality information. When working with teenagers in the virtual world, adults must continually focus on the assessment aspect of information literacy because it is consistently where teens fall short. This is especially true of Internet resources."

Fire Up the Learner Within: The Art of Self-Directed Learning ReviewI've been a self-directed learner for many years (after completing my university education), so the ideas in this book were familiar to me to the extent that I found the book a bit superficial. Nevertheless, the author has done a nice job of summarizing information drawn from many well-known sources, so I do think the book should be a good introductory resource for less experienced self-directed learners. To give a sense of the book's content, here's my summary of the key points:
(1) The world is now complex, not just complicated, which makes lifelong self-directed learning especially important.
(2) We need to be able to unlearn and relearn, not just learn.
(3) Deriving meaning and insight from information has become increasingly important, as compared to memorizing facts.
(4) The abundance of online and other educational resources available today is a boon for the self-directed learner. Avail it!
(5) Learning requires a belief that talent can be developed through disciplined, tenacious, and deliberately engaged hard work in the face of difficulties and setbacks, rather than assuming that talent is inborn (and thus limited). This is why underdogs often come out ahead. Moreover, according to one estimate, IQ contributes (only) about 20% to life success anyway.
(6) Though learning is often hard work, that doesn't mean that we can't or shouldn't enjoy learning, and indeed there should be an emphasis on process rather than outcome (good outcome will generally follow from good process anyway). An ideal process will result in a deeply involving "flow" experience in which one is "in the zone".
(7) Having the curiosity and lack of preconceptions of "beginner's mind" is important at all levels of learning, not just for beginners.
(8) When we look at a topic from multiple perspectives, we learn more deeply, remember better, and resist fragmentation of knowledge.
(9) Studying is best done daily ("little and often"), rather than in blocks of cramming.
(10) Critical thinking is needed to find and remove biases and flaws in our mental models.
(11) Effective learners engage in meta-learning, which means monitoring their own learning and changing their learning approach as needed.
(12) Application of knowledge is a vital part of learning. If this can't be done in real life, various types of simulations (eg, homework problems) are an alternative.
(13) Ideally, one will develop deep knowledge in at least one domain, combined with substantial knowledge in other domains also, so that synthesis is possible.
(14) Expertise tends to be domain-specific. Development of expertise in challenging domains takes about 10,000 hours of deliberate practice, which means about a decade at 4 hours per weekday.
(15) Goals beyond self-interest tend to foster learning.Fire Up the Learner Within: The Art of Self-Directed Learning OverviewWhether you are preparing for an exam, or learning for a new job mandate, or learning more about a hobby, or you simply want to pursue learning for the sheer joy of it, this book will help you improve your self-directed learning skills. The book covers four topics: - To Learn: how to build your inner strength to learn- To Know: how to become better at acquiring knowledge of a subject matter- To Understand: how to develop modes of thinking that help you look at the world in a different way- To Perform - how to attain mastery

Reading the Web: Strategies for Internet Inquiry (Solving Problems in the Teaching of Literacy) ReviewI was required to read this book for a class I was taking. At first glance I thought it would be "just another textbook." However, I quickly realized what a goldmine of information and guidance the book delivers. It takes a huge concept and breaks it down into readily usable applications. Too often I will find great theory resources, but they will lack the day-to-day nitty gritty of application. This book has the theory, the steps, the handouts, even the lesson plans. I found the readability engaging and direct. Great resource and great introduction into the miasma of inquiry-based research and 21st literacy skills. Thank you, Drs. Eagleton and Dobler, you have given me a launch into a whole new curriculum!Reading the Web: Strategies for Internet Inquiry (Solving Problems in the Teaching of Literacy) OverviewPacked with ideas and instructional activities that cut across all content areas, this engaging book provides a comprehensive framework for promoting vital Web literacy skills in grades 3-8. Teacher-friendly special features include helpful graphics, sidebars, practical tips, and nearly 100 reproducibles. Using a research-based, classroom-tested model of Internet inquiry, the authors explain the "whats," "whys," and "how-tos" of helping diverse learners: *Locate useful information sources on the Web*Navigate the contents of a website*Critically evaluate what they read online*Synthesize the results of an Internet inquiry*Express new knowledge in their own words

I Found It on the Internet, Coming of Age Online, Second Edition ReviewI Found It On the Internet: Coming of Age Online is an outstanding introduction to the world of electronic interaction possibilities, and the influence they have on youngsters growing up in an environment where electronic interaction is often THE mode of communication. This is an authoritative, up to date resource includes citation of numerous significant studies, is conversational in tone, and always an enjoyable read.
Interested in delving into background/current status of instant messaging, chat services, e-mail, online media sharing services, web forums, collaborative work spaces, tagging and/or RSS feeds? Chapter 3, Information Technology Meets Communication Technology, does a superb job of introducing these topics.
The second part of the book, Consequences, deals with social implications within the student community, impacts on parent-student interactions, inclusion, exclusion, privacy and collaboration. These topics are followed by discussion and findings regarding moral development, cheating, improper use of intellectual property, hacking, and even hones in on special areas of focus such as issues regarding Facebook photos.
The final section of the book, Next Steps, focuses on establishment of appropriate home and school behaviors and development of critical evaluation skills. It culminates with discussion of the changing roles of libraries, librarians, and practices that enable librarians (and teachers!) to be more effective leaders in working effectively with students in best understanding and utilizing the new technologies/literacies.
I Found It On the Internet: Coming of Age Online has outstanding potential for inclusion in the National Writing Project Invitational Summer Workshops reading list, particularly as a pragmatic follow-up resource for those introduced to the new technologies by Herrington's Teaching of the New Writing. I just need to figure out how to do that...I Found It on the Internet, Coming of Age Online, Second Edition Overview

Differentiating Instruction with Technology in Middle School Classrooms ReviewTechnology has a bigger impact on children's lives than ever before. "Differentiating Instruction with Technology in Middle School Classrooms" is a guide to teachers who want to embrace the information age and weave technology into their curriculum as a partner in teaching. Discussing how to do integrate this well into the school and treat technology as a partner in education rather than just a tool, it emphasizes internet use. Subject by subject, "Differentiating Instructions with Technology in Middle School Classrooms" is a must for any community or college library collection focusing on education.Differentiating Instruction with Technology in Middle School Classrooms OverviewMiddle school is a time of growth and change for students, with each student changing and growing in different ways and at different rates. These students, like the rest of us, have different interests, different backgrounds, and different goals for their lives. Educators have a responsibility to treat and teach them as individuals. Differentiated Instruction (DI) makes this possible, and technology makes DI easy, effective, and engaging.
Recognizing a need for change in middle school instruction, the authors wrote Differentiating Instruction with Technology in Middle School Classrooms to show educators the benefits of combining DI with technology, encouraging educators to re-engage students by bringing lessons out of the past and into the student-centered reality of digital-age learning. This book offers an overview of research on the uniqueness of middle school students and illustrates the importance of using technology to create differentiated lessons, especially with this age group. It lists the fundamental components of DI, student traits that guide DI, and Web 2.0 resources that can help make DI a reality in the middle school classroom. It also includes sample activities for incorporating DI in multiple subjects: math, science, social studies, and language arts. The strategies and lessons in this book will ensure that students receive a tailored education that also prepares them with the technology skills they need for a successful future.
Features:
* Lists of resources for Web 2.0 tools that support differentiated instruction * A chapter on using DI for student assessment * A survey of research on middle school students
Topics include:
-differentiating instruction-Web 2.0-technology integration-math-science-social studies-langauge arts-assessment

RSS for Educators: Blogs, Newsfeeds, Podcasts, and Wikis in the Classroom ReviewWhatever happened to Web 1.0? Readers of John Hendron's (2008) book, RSS for Educators, will quickly realize the speed at which web technology has evolved. From its humble Web 1.0 beginnings of one-way, read-only applications on the information highway, we now have two-way, read-write RSS (Really Simple Syndication) apps and tools in a new revolutionary freeway of innovations of computer commuters networked by information using blogs, podcasts, newsfeeds, and wikis. This can be about everything, be from anywhere, happen everywhere, and on all kinds of devices (Wesch, 2008)
For someone who has an older one-way computer background, John Hendron's book is an eye-opener not only for techies, but also especially for educators who must merge into the new-era of Web 2.0 information travels. The new features of this highway are succinctly defined with helpful diagrams picturing Client/Server/Local User paradigms to help us understand where we are located in this interactive information highway called the Internet. For someone who had little background on Web 2.0, this book was very readable with new technologies clearly explained. Much of the author's discussion of blogs, wikis, etc. seamlessly interact with his classroom experience as a teacher and liaison to district administrators and parents, in bringing them together to experience and benefit from the slew of technologies available to help them communicate and better education.
The strength of the book is in its balance of presenting Web 2.0 technologies in a readable but also very technical fashion. Teachers can quickly make progress by using the recommended websites to start blog accounts, wikis, etc. A brief range of the most popular and powerful technologies are presented for the consumer to choose from depending on his/her situation. Whether it is blogs, wikis, podcasts, VoIP, or newsfeeds, the author usually surveys the most effective tools, always giving attention to both platforms, whether it is PC or Macintosh. His only weakness is his unhidden bias for Macs. However, the detail of his interaction with the technology is fair. His treatment of these is up-to-date and current.
In relation to Wikis, John gives helpful examples of using wikis for department meetings, notes, minutes, and even curriculum development. Here is where the "Ah Haa" moments echo where he provides specific uses of wikis from his own educational experience. The technology of Web 2.0 is not confined to the classroom, but transcended by things like videoconferencing, and also usable in teacher business as well as district business. The two-way roads of technology are expanding to the many facets of education.
When it comes to blogging, the author adequately surveys the popular blog resources available to begin web 2.0 applications. Again, both PC and Macintosh platforms are represented. The section does seem overly technical for educators, but as an educator with computer background, I found it very helpful. What I appreciate about Hendron's treatment is the balance of adequate technical help with the creativity of the Web 2.0 applications. Especially eye-opening were the classroom lesson plans using blogging technology to accomplish educational objectives. What administrator would not drop his/her jaw to see this kind of technology used in the classroom to engage and bring much needed collaboration to the classroom using technology? The lessons were replete with collaborative ideas using engaging technology. The only criticism is that the lesson plans did not include a single math lesson. This reviewer is a secondary math teacher.
In the final analysis, the esoteric technical title of the book is actually a rich and readable ride into the revolutionary Web 2.0 technology of not the future, but the present. It's explained clearly across both platforms and surveyed across the most popular tools. This is an excellent primer on information travel for Web 2.0.
RSS for Educators: Blogs, Newsfeeds, Podcasts, and Wikis in the Classroom OverviewA powerful technology, but a simple concept, RSS ('Really Simple Syndication') makes it possible to easily access frequently updated content on the Internet. RSS allows you to 'subscribe' to content and have updates automatically delivered to your computer. Many Web 2.0 tools, including blogs, podcasts, and wikis, have been made even more useful with the advent of RSS technology.
Let expert John Hendron show you how to use a news aggregator to harness the power of RSS for a variety of purposes, including classroom projects, professional development, and keeping students and parents informed.
* Learn how to use free and inexpensive software such as Garage Band and Audacity to manipulate audio files and create podcasts.
* Explore the pros and cons of various blogging platforms.
* Have your students blog, and use RSS to deliver their assignments to you automatically.
With RSS and the Read/Write Web, the possibilities are endless.

The Digital Diet: Today's Digital Tools in Small Bytes ReviewIn their book, The Digital Diet- Today's Digital Tools in Small Bytes, authors Churches, Crockett, and Jukes have empowered everyone from the most naïve of digital immigrants (like myself) to veteran "techies" (like most of my student teachers) for effectively using technology to foster productive learning in the classroom. In pragmatic, down-to-earth, 1-2-3 directions they have garnered the essence of major technological tools and presented them to learners (students and teachers) in an efficient, graduated way. They offer the latest strategies to help engage students in their own learning through various tools readily available and easily accessible on the internet.
The book's blueprint is excellent - provide the essential vocabulary, explain through both graphics and words in a common sense manner, deliver a well-thought-out rubric aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy, and provide resources for further study. Each chapter ends with follow-up questions, which can be used for individual reflection or group discussion.
Their guiding principles for what it means to be a responsible, ethical digital user should be required knowledge for every member of the internet society! This book is deceptively simple in its design and monumental in its impact. I've spend the entire week-end following up on their suggestions and can honestly say, "I'm hooked!!"
As someone who works with teachers and administrators on a daily basis, I can wholeheartedly assure both novice and veteran educators that this book is worth your time and money. It simplifies the mysteries of teaching to the digital learner and challenges us to view students as partners in their own learning! It is empowering, informative, and most of all -- useful!
--Debbie Silver, Ed.D. Moodle Administration: An administrator's guide to configuring, securing, customizing, and extending Moodle ReviewHow ironic it is to read a commercial book about open-source software! I was nonetheless intrigued when Packt Publishing invited me to review a complimentary copy of Moodle Administration. Why not give book learning another try? I might find new value and improve my knowledge of Moodle.
Moodle Administration presents a clear and thorough review of essential concepts and tasks for Moodle site administrators. Buchner consistently focuses on his priority audience, staff who are tasked with installing and managing Moodle. He stays away from systems administration or course construction tasks. The guide will make sense in a variety of contexts, from campus-based schools and universities to virtual schools.
Moodle's own structure guides the book's organization. Chapter topics include installation, course management, user management, look and feel, security, backup and restore, backup and restore, and networking. This makes the book easy to use for a variety of purposes: an introduction to the new Moodle administrator, a refresher for a current Moodle admin, or as a quick reference for specific topics.
The Moodle community maintains its own documentation for administrators. These freely-accessible, maintained documents also cover the basics of site administration and follow Moodle's structure. Why buy the book? Overall, Buchner's focused effort demonstrates greater thoroughness and consistency than does the online documentation. One finds an appropriate level of detail and visuals throughout the book. That said, some explanations of the administrative interface reference and borrow from existing, free Moodle documentation.
The book helped fill a number of gaps in my knowledge, many of them new features in version 1.9 and some older. I will look into the Accessibility Options module as a way to provide screen-reading and high-contrast themes to three of our users. I enjoyed the clear explanation of how to set up parent roles using the mentee function, though I did not find the answer to my longstanding question of how to most easily provide parent access to their child's courses. I had heard of Mahara e-portfolio integration, but the book's explanation provided me with more complete context for the relationship than I had previously encountered. I learned a lot about how to synchronize enrollment with our student information system, which we may do one day. I also learned about file access via WebDAV, which could help teachers who maintain large file collections, but I was left curious when the book only demonstrated how to connect a Windows client to a WebDAV-enabled system.
I wish the book had spent more time on year-to-year transitions. Buchner alludes to year-end and start-of-year administrative tasks, underscores the importance of planning your course organization ahead of time, and explains both importing activities and restore from backup. Buchner could more fully explain different ways to help teachers who want to carry their course from one year into the next. I don't recall a reference to the Reset Course feature or manual approaches that teachers may use to keep some content and remove others from one year to the next.
Ideally, the Moodle community would make this quality of documentation available online. In the meantime, this book should find a receptive audience. I am pleased to read that Packt donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book to the Moodle project. I trust that Buchner's company, Synergy Learning, regularly contributes core code and modules to the Moodle project.
While academic technology specialists and teachers bear the most responsibility to understand how Moodle may support a constructionist learning environment, the Moodle administrator also plays a role. Moodle Administration misses the opportunity to educate Moodle admins on what makes Moodle different from its peers and competitors. The book could draw particular attention to configuration and maintenance tasks that facilitate student-centered instruction. For example, what block configurations typically accompany the Social Format for courses? How could students use their personalized calendar views to manage their own assignments? How may one allow more student control over course content? What features do students use to monitor course activity, especially in discussion forums? How does one configure inline commenting to provide more opportunities for teacher-student dialogue around completed work? In other words, it is great to know the function of each configuration setting, but should we not also teach the purpose?
The book encourages me to explore two of Packt Publishing's other Moodle titles, Moodle Teaching Techniques and Moodle E-Learning Course Development. These may provide more of the broader perspective on administering Moodle that I seek. On the other hand, how many school staff would spend about $150 US in order to purchase them all?
Moodle 1.9 E-Learning Course Development
Moodle Teaching Techniques
Moodle Administration fulfills its primary goal, to provide clear, comprehensive explanations of all of the major components of Moodle 1.9 to staff responsible for system installation and maintenance. It should serve as a useful introduction to new Moodle administrators or a reference manual for current admins. Advanced Moodle administrators may find the text useful as a refresher.

Effective Online Teaching: Foundations and Strategies for Student Success (JOSSEY-BASS HIGHER & ADULT EDUCATION SERIES) ReviewI picked this textbook up at a conference, listened to the author speak about her book and her work, and cannot recommend this highly enough. Whether you are an academic administrator, an educator, a tenured faculty member with years of experience, or the new "adjunct on the block," this book was written with your needs in mind. The unique combination of a clear eyed view of the needs of the student and of faculty, along with a best practices educational psychology perspective makes this book an essential read for everyone whose decisions make a difference in the lives of students. A must read, period. No matter what page I turn to in this book, I find a perspective and a calm wisdom that has me nodding in agreement. There is a companion workbook that includes a cd-rom, also by the same author (I have not obtained that yet, but plan to). Start your semester, whether you are teaching online or not (the book is a handbook of pedagogy, not merely another book about online teaching) with this text... at once transformative and essential. (note to publisher--- change the cover, I saw this on a table at the conference in Madison WI this week, and passed it by specifically because of the cover... I picked it up because Tina's presentation sounded interesting, and was it ever!)Effective Online Teaching: Foundations and Strategies for Student Success (JOSSEY-BASS HIGHER & ADULT EDUCATION SERIES) OverviewIn order to enable the widespread adoption of online education, faculty must be trained in the pedagogy of teaching in this medium. This book offers an understanding of how cognition and learning theory applies to an online learning environment. Through behaviorist, constructivist, and cognitive approaches it provides strategies for incorporating this knowledge into effective learner-centered teaching practice. Each chapter contains reflection and discussion questions and, with the use of the accompanying CD, can be used for self-directed learning. It is ideal for new instructors or those new to online teaching.

The Wild Idea Club: A Collaborative System to Solve Workplace Problems, Improve Efficiency, and Boost Your Bottom Line ReviewMarilyn, former school counselor
"The Wild Idea Club" presents an excellent format for brainstorming. While the book aimed at solving problems in the workplace the ideas would be equally valuable in an educational setting. Brainstorming is an effective way to discuss what to do about bullying, having more time for recess or lunch or getting along with teachers etc. Wish the book had been available when I was moderating group sessions with students. The Wild Idea Club: A Collaborative System to Solve Workplace Problems, Improve Efficiency, and Boost Your Bottom Line OverviewImagine a workplace where employees don't complain about problems but instead work together in idea-generating clubs to present positive solutions. The Wild Idea Club will help you get there there, by providing managers with an easy, step-by-step approach that harnesses the collective genius of their people to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and increase morale. In tough times like these--with managers facing increasing pressure to get more done with fewer people and less money--encouraging employees to work together to tackle tough issues on their own is not a luxury, but a survival tool. When people start seeing possibilities instead of problems--and can present their solutions to decision-makers who care--something amazing happens: They find themselves actually working together toward a common goal that benefits everyone and their organization. The Wild Idea Club is a guide, a method, and a tool that provides:* Everything a manager needs to get a Wild Idea Club (or three) up and running in his or her organization--and keep it going.* Tips and techniques to help your people generate ideas and select the best ones.* The best ways to capture, record, research, and follow through on the solutions generated by a Wild Idea Club.* Strategies to help your people pitch their ideas.* And much more.Written in a loose and light style, each chapter presents one facet of the concept, illustrated through a story based on real-life examples of Wild Idea Clubs in action. This book will help anyone learn exactly what's needed to create a club in his or her company, no matter its industry, size, or history.

Using Moodle: Teaching with the Popular Open Source Course Management System ReviewThis is an excellent book for a teacher who would like to know a little bit more about Moodle. The teacher does not need to know much about course management software. This book gives a great overview, with examples, while not getting caught up in the technical details.
For example the Lesson module section starts off with non-Moodle classroom story told by Jason. Then the chapter gives a short overview and talks about the different features of Lesson. There are a couple of inserts on tips and examples of how a feature could be used. Plus a few screen shots.
If you are looking for examples of GIFT or XML formats, then this is not the book for you. On the other hand, after reading the Lesson and Quiz chapters, the potential teacher will know that these are a few of the question formats that can be imported into Moodle.
Moodle documentation and on-line forums are great resources but are not designed for the non-user or really new user. This book will help a teacher ask or find more information about what they want to do in their course. It is "Moodle 101 : An Introduction to teaching with Moodle."
Using Moodle: Teaching with the Popular Open Source Course Management System Overview
Using Moodle is a complete, hands-on guide for instructors learning how to use Moodle, the popular course management system (CMS) that enables remote web-based learning and supplements traditional classroom learning. Updated for the latest version, this new edition explains exactly how Moodle works by offering plenty of examples, screenshots and best practices for its many features and plug-in modules. Moodle gives teachers and trainers a powerful set of web-based tools for a flexible array of activities, including assignments, forums, journals, quizzes, surveys, chat rooms, and workshops. This book is not just a how-to manual. Every chapter includes suggestions and case studies for using Moodle effectively. By itself, Moodle won't make your course better. Only by applying effective educational practices can you truly leverage its power. With this book, you will:

Get a complete overview CMS in general and Moodle in particular. Review Moodle's basic interface and learn to start a course.
Learn to add Moodle tools to your course, and how different tools allow you to give quizzes and assignments, write journals, create pathed lessons, collaboratively develop documents, and record student grades.
Discover some of the creative ways teachers have used Moodle. There are plenty of ideas for effectively using each tool.
Effectively manage your Moodle course, such as adding and removing users, and creating user groups. Learn to use Moodle's built-in survey functions for assessing your class.
Find out how to administer an entire Moodle site. A system administrator usually handles these functions, but if you're on your own, there's a lot of power behind the curtain.
Using Moodle is both a guide and a reference manual for this incredibly powerful and flexible CMS. Authored by the Moodle community, this authoritative book also exposes little known but powerful hacks for more technically savvy users, and includes coverage of blogs, RSS, databases, and more. For anyone who is using, or thinking of using, this CMS, Using Moodle is required reading.

The Portable MLIS: Insights from the Experts ReviewI recently completed my MLIS and used this book as one of many tools to review for my comprehensive exam. I found the text most useful in summarizing and highlighting ethics issues, especially those discussed in the ALA's labyrinthine Intellectual Freedom Manual. Still, if you're looking for depth and substantial context, you're better off using the authors' original works (especially Rubin and Taylor). If you're thinking about going to library school, this is a good overview of what you'll be learning in the core courses. You may find it to be very relevant material, especially if you've never worked in a library before (which, personally, I HIGHLY recommend before you commit to a graduate school program). Overall, I'd recommend checking this book out from the library before committing to buying it at such a steep cover price. The Portable MLIS: Insights from the Experts Overview

Digital Storytelling Guide for Educators ReviewI purchased this book for a college course literature circle assignment. What I like about this book is the many websites and internet resource links that provide examples of Web 2.0 technology and tools to begin storytelling in the classroom. The chapters are logically presented making learning digital storytelling easy even for novices like myself. I created a very basic Windows Movie Maker video using still pictures in a matter of minutes. For the educator who wishes to dabble in digital storytelling, this book is an excellent resource and tutorial guide.Digital Storytelling Guide for Educators OverviewStorytelling is an age-old art form. With Web 2.0 and the tools already available on most computers, students can use text, music, sound effects, videos, and more to create a multimedia presentation that links them to the world beyond the classroom. Storytelling has the potential to unleash creativity, engage, and motivate. Applicable across the curriculum, digital storytelling teaches students to work collaboratively and use new technologies, skills they will be required to have in the workforce of the future.
This book offers an overview of digital storytelling as well as its variations, including e-portfolios, digital photo essays, and scrapblogs. The many recommendations, overviews, and explanations of digital storytelling tools, along with lists of additional digital storytelling resources, will help educators to apply this exciting technology in their classrooms. Educators will also discover the ways digital storytelling can be used for their own professional development. Digital Storytelling Guide for Educators provides detailed directions to preparation, production, and presentation, and rounds out with a discussion on creating rubrics and evaluating student work. Readers will come away with an understanding of digital stories and the tools needed to create them.
